Musik Monday
Happy Musik Monday everyone! Today's Artist is Bastille and some songs are The Draw, Poet, Laughter Lines, Of the Night, Flaws.
Really I like most of their songs. The Draw is probably my most favorite right now. It reminds me of the draw that camp has in my life. Those of you who have worked at camp know what I mean. This summer will be my 6th working/volunteering for the BSA. I will be the Nature Director as well as the Eagles Nest (required merit badges) Director. This previous week I had a lot of time to think about why I do it. Not for the pay, not to roll in the dirt (although its fun), not to get away from my family and friends back home. I applied when I was 13 and had absolutely no idea what I was getting into. It was terrifying but I just knew that I needed to do it. It felt right. I have learned so much from camp about life. I have had the opportunity to influence hundreds and maybe thousands of boys each summer as well as make some of the best friendships I have ever had. Sure I have been dumb and have been hurt but my trials have made me a better person today. I could have been a runway model, I was offered a job as one when I was 13-14 ish. I would have made WAY more money. I chose to not be a model and instead a role model, well as much of one as a girl at boy scout camp can. I am so grateful for my parents who have always supported my going up into the mountains and leaving them for weeks at a time. Camp is hard. Camp is a different world. Camp draws me back because I love the people. I love nature. I love testimony meetings around campfires. I love the little moments. Camp is not for everyone, but it is for me. Here is to another great adventure. :)
