Outreach Flag Ettiquite
Requirements
We then talked about a scouts duty to their country and what that meant and why it might be important.
Then we recited the Pledge of Allegiance and talked about the different parts of the flag like the stars and stripes and what they stand for. At one of the camps I worked at we did a patriotic program that went into further detail and talked about the colors and their meanings. At this point I would talk about how and why we respect the flag and why we say a Pledge to it. (I know this sounds like a lot of discussion but really it doesn't take long, you can split it up by having them draw and color a flag representing them)
Here is a short video about the Tenderfoot requirement and talks about raising and lowering the flag.

Now the fun part. Have one (or two) scout come to the front with you and unfold the flag. Teach the scouts step by step how to fold the American Flag. Do it with them the first time then have them get into pairs and let them do it.
If you have a state flag handy you can show the scouts who are not occupied with folding Old Glory to fold the State flag and how it is different.
Teach the scouts how to call and perform a flag ceremony then organize and do one. (You can do it the next week with the whole group before they split into girl/boy scouts)
